Md. Noman Mia is a highly accomplished and experienced professional whose distinguished career spans both academia and banking, accumulating well over three decades of combined service. Currently serving as General Manager and Principal of the Rupali Bank Training Academy at Rupali Bank PLC since January 2025, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the professional development and capacity building of the bank’s human resources across the country.

Born on 5 September 1970 in the village of Baneswar, under Madhavpur Thana in Habiganj District, he comes from a humble background and has built his career entirely through merit, dedication, and perseverance. He is the son of Md. Saleh Uddin and Rejia Begum and currently resides in Dhaka with his family.

Before embarking on his banking career, Md. Noman Mia served as a Lecturer at a college for three years, where he demonstrated his intellectual depth and commitment to education. This formative experience in teaching not only shaped his communication and leadership skills but also laid a strong foundation for his later role in institutional training and human resource development within the banking sector. His background in education gives him a unique perspective that distinguishes him from his peers and has proven invaluable in his current role as Principal of the Rupali Bank Training Academy.

Following his teaching career, Md. Noman Mia joined Rupali Bank PLC on 30 September 1998 at the 9th Grade and embarked on what would become an extraordinary banking career spanning over 27 years. His rise through the institutional hierarchy was driven by consistent performance, strong administrative acumen, and an exceptional understanding of banking operations at both field and head office levels. His promotion to Deputy General Manager (DGM) in August 2017 marked a major milestone, during which he served approximately 5 years and 10 months in that capacity before being further elevated to General Manager (GM) in June 2023.

Throughout his banking career, he has served across a remarkable range of postings nationwide. He served as Assistant General Manager in the Inspection and Monitoring Team in Sylhet, including an 11-month tenure as Team Leader. He subsequently served as DGM and Zonal Manager in both Sylhet and Moulvibazar, followed by roles as Deputy General Manager at the Sylhet Divisional Office and the Population Division of the Head Office in Dhaka. He also acted as Divisional Head in both Mymensingh and Rangpur before his appointment as GM and Divisional Head of Dhaka North — one of the bank’s most strategically critical regional offices.

Academically, Md. Noman Mia possesses a strong and well-rounded educational profile. He passed his SSC in 1985 with First Division and his HSC in 1987 with Second Division. He went on to earn a B.Sc (Honours) in 1990 and an M.Sc in Zoology in 1991, both with Second Division results. Later in his career, he pursued an MBA in Management Information Systems (MIS) in 2020, achieving a commendable CGPA of 3.53. He is also a Banking Diploma holder from the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh, having completed both parts — a qualification that underscores his unwavering commitment to professional excellence in the financial sector.
